Given the costs of a lawyer in Switzerland, many rely on legal insurance, which has the main objective of covering any legal costs. Coverage ranges from consulting through a legal assistant to the assumption of costs for the court and lawyer. Insurance is divided into two branches of competence: circulation legal protection and private legal protection.
Traffic legal protection insurance offers financial protection in the event of legal disputes relating to road traffic, for example for legal cases following an accident or for disputes relating to the purchase, leasing or repair of a vehicle.
Private legal protection insurance offers financial protection in the field of private law, for example for legal cases concerning the right of tenancy or right of residence and superficial property.
Basically, only legal cases are covered in which the triggering event occurs and is reported during the term of the contract.
In addition, in some sectors the coverage only comes into effect after a waiting period of three months from the date of conclusion of the contract, as some disputes may be foreseen, in particular those in relation to contracts, such as in the case of cancellation of apartments.
